Playing Unaligned

When playing an unaligned character consider this quote from the phb1 page 20: “If you’re unaligned you don’t actively seek to hurt others or wish them ill, you also don’t go out of your way to put yourself at risk without some hope for reward. You support law and order when doing so benefits you. You value your own freedom without worrying too much about protecting the freedom of others.” I interpret this as an unaligned character is not likely to preform acts of outright evil such as killing a PC (A friend of theirs who has fought with them in many battles). I see an unaligned character as being a typical everyday human, somewhat selfish but not selfish to the point of evil!

If a unaligned character does preform an act of evil (small or large) and is spotted by a fellow good PC I do not believe a truly good PC would immediately turn and attack his friend and ally (not without repeated offences). I believe before it escalated that far the Good PC would be shocked and would attempt to question the unaligned’s motives, judgement and possibly request he repent or make amends. I do not believe allies who regularly watch each others backs would come to blows other a stolen trinket or an insulted lord.

The above writing is available in the help section along with a link to a discussion on unaligned. After I wrote this message I thought it important enough that I decided to make a log post of it. It is likely I will also post links to other articles in the help section regarding this subject.

From Craters to Waterfalls.
Irontooth's Demise.

The heroes found a new companion in a shifter druid called Metsamies who was on a quest to find Douven as a favour to Lord Padraig. He further agreed to join the heroes on their quest to help Winterhaven.

The heroes found Douven at a dragon burial site at the bottom of a crater. He’d been captured by a gnome called Agrid and his lackeys. There was also a powerful apparition summoned by someone that Agrid referred to as Kalarel. After dispatching these enemies the heroes questioned Douven and agreed to escort him back to Winterhaven.

When they reached Winterhaven they found smoke and fire rising and the gates barred! Rond Kelfem told them Winterhaven had been attacked and were only just able to fight of the attackers due to the training the town militia had received from the heroes. He also told them Lord Padraig was willing to pay them an extra 100gp to deal with the local kobold problem now.

Thus the heroes attacked the kobold lair , destroying it’s outer defenses and penetrating the inner sanctum. They eventually crossed swords with the fearsome Irontooth. Flaeir with her powerful magic cast the final blow on Irontooth who died with a ferocious scream to Kalarel and Orcus that echoed throughout the cave.

The Beginning
To Winterhaven!

The Adventurers were ambushed by kobold bandits on their way to Winterhaven. They vanquished the kobolds and continued their journey, eventually reaching Winterhaven. In town they went to the inn and met a fair amount of people, they decided to stay the night and further explore the next day. During their stay they gained some new quests such as defeating the kobolds, they were also asked by Alane to find her missing husband. They also helped to train the local militia at the Warrior Guild.

Once they were done exploring they set out south from Winterhaven aiming to find Douven, the missing man. They were once again ambushed by kobolds, clearly they knew of their movements. They easily dispatched this second group and continued their journey.

(Meta Post) The Adventure Log.

Above I have written a quick log noting our first session, anyone can feel free to edit it further and make it more in depth. In future by all means you can write the adventure logs.
